Frequently asked questions
44 questions people really ask us, with the answer alongside. Is yours not there? Ask us — then it will be there tomorrow.
Will it fit my set?
How do I know whether a wall mount exists for my LEGO® set?
Every mount is made for one set, and the set number is in the product title. Search for that number in the search bar of this shop: if there is a result, the mount exists. If there is nothing, send us the set number — that is where most of our designs came from.
Where do I find the set number of my LEGO® set?
On the box the number is usually in the bottom right corner of the front: four or five digits, for example 42115 or 75192. If you no longer have the box, the same number is on the first page of the building instructions.
Does one wall mount fit several sets?
As a rule, no. A mount grips the structure of one specific model, and that differs from set to set. If two sets are built the same way inside, both set numbers are in the product title.
My set is not listed. Could it still be added?
Often, yes. Send us the set number through the contact page. We keep track of which sets are asked for most, and those go into design first.
Is there a mount for a set that is no longer sold?
Yes, the range goes back years. A set going out of production does not mean the design disappears. If you cannot find it in the shop, ask us with the set number.
Does the mount still work if I have modified my set?
That depends on what you changed. The mount clicks onto the original structure of the model. If you have altered it, it may still fit, but that is not something we can guarantee.
Is the LEGO® set included with the wall mount?
No. You are buying the wall mount. The model in the photos is only there to show what it looks like on the wall.
I ordered the wrong mount. What now?
We will sort it out. You have fourteen days to change your mind by law; as long as the mount is unused we will exchange it or take it back. Get in touch before you send anything back, that makes it quicker.
Putting it on the wall
How do I hang my LEGO® set on the wall?
In three steps. One: pick the mount that belongs to your set number. Two: screw the mount to the wall with two screws, using a spirit level. Three: click the model onto the mount. Every mount comes with mounting instructions, and all our instructions are on the instructions page as well, so you can see beforehand what you are in for.
Which screws and wall plugs do I need?
That depends on your wall, which is why we do not supply them. For concrete and brick you use an ordinary plug with a matching screw; for plasterboard a cavity plug or a plug that folds open behind the board; in wood or a wooden beam you can drive the screw straight in. Choose fixings that suit the weight of your set — if you are unsure, the hardware shop will ask, and so will we.
Why are screws and wall plugs not included?
Because the wrong plug becomes the weakest link. Plasterboard, concrete and wood each need something different, and one set of fixings would be the wrong set for half of our customers. We would rather tell you what you need.
Can I hang the mount without drilling?
We advise against it. A built set weighs more than it looks, and mounting tape lets go over time — usually exactly when nobody is watching. Two screws are two small holes that you fill later with a bit of filler.
How much weight can a wall mount carry?
The mount itself is not the limiting factor; the fixing in the wall is. A mount is designed for the weight of the set it was made for, so choose plugs and screws that can carry that weight in your type of wall.
How do I get the mount straight on the wall?
Hold the mount where you want it, mark the holes with a pencil and put a spirit level against it before you drill. If you are unsure about the height: hang the model at eye level or just above, and you see the top of the set the way it was meant to be seen.
Can I hang it on plasterboard?
Yes, with the right plug. If there is a wooden beam behind the board, screw into that — that is always the strongest option. If there is nothing behind it, use a cavity plug rated for the weight of your set.
Can I move the mount later?
Yes. You unscrew it and you are left with two screw holes. Fill those with a bit of filler and a stroke of paint and nobody can tell anything ever hung there.
Can I take my model off again?
Yes, the model clicks off the way it clicks on. Handy if you want to dust it, move house or hang up a different set.
Are mounting instructions included?
Yes, and you can look at them beforehand. The instructions page has the instructions for every mount we make, searchable by set.
Do I have to modify my set to get it onto the mount?
For most sets, no. If your model does have a brick that needs to come off first, that is described step by step in the mounting instructions for that mount.
The mount itself
Where are the wall mounts made?
In the Netherlands, in our own workshop. That means there is no international shipping between your order and your parcel, and we can adjust a design without going through a factory on the other side of the world.
What material is the mount made of?
High-quality print filament with a matt black finish. Strong enough not to bend under the set it was made for, and matt so that it does not reflect light and disappears against the wall.
What colour is the mount?
Matt black. That stands out least on most walls and keeps the attention on the model. If you want another colour, ask us — sometimes it is possible.
Is the mount visible once my set is hanging?
Barely. The mount sits behind and underneath the model, so from the front you see the model floating and not the structure below it.
Does the mount discolour or turn yellow?
Not with normal indoor use. Do not hang your set in full sun or right behind south-facing glass; that is good advice for the LEGO bricks themselves too.
Why 3D printed and not milled or moulded?
Because we make a separate design for every set. Having a mould made for hundreds of individual models does not add up, printing does. That is why there is a mount for your specific set instead of a universal clamp.
How long does a wall mount last?
There is nothing in it that can wear out: no hinge, no spring, no battery. Mounted properly it stays up as long as your set does.
Can the mount go outside or in the bathroom?
We advise against both. The mount is made for indoor use, and damp and temperature swings are no good for your LEGO set either.
Ordering, delivery and returns
What does shipping cost?
Shipping costs € 4.95. Order for € 30 or more and we ship free of charge. You see the amount at checkout before you pay.
When is shipping free?
From € 30 in your basket. Most premium mounts are around € 25, so one mount already gets you close. Your basket shows exactly how much more you need.
How long does delivery take?
The current delivery time is in our shipping policy, at the bottom of every page. We print here in the Netherlands ourselves, so there is no international shipping between your order and your parcel.
Can I exchange or return?
Yes. You have fourteen days to change your mind by law, counting from the moment you receive the parcel. Send the mount back unused and you get your money back; if you would rather have a different mount, we will exchange it. The full terms are in our refund policy.
How can I pay?
You see the available payment methods at checkout and at the bottom of every page. You pay in a secure Shopify environment; we never see your payment details.
Do I get an invoice?
The order confirmation you receive by email serves as your invoice. If you need one in your company's name, let us know and include your order number.
My parcel arrived damaged. What now?
Send a photo of the damage and of the parcel along with your order number. We will fix it; that is not something you have to negotiate.
Can I still change or cancel my order?
As long as the parcel is not on its way yet, you can. Email us as soon as possible and include your order number.
Can I give a wall mount as a present?
Certainly, and it is one of the better presents for someone who has just finished a big set. If you do not know which set, ask us about the options before you gamble on a set number.
GeckoBricks and LEGO®
Is this an official LEGO® product?
No. GeckoBricks is entirely separate from the LEGO Group. Our wall mounts are designed to fit their sets, but they are our own products. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group, and they neither sponsor nor endorse us.
Why is there always a ® after LEGO?
Because LEGO® is somebody else's registered trademark. We only mention it to say which set a mount fits, and we do not pretend to be part of them.
Who is behind GeckoBricks?
GeckoBricks is an international brand with partners per country. We are the Dutch branch: we print, check, pack and ship here. Behind the scenes that happens under the Mist Prints name.
Do I lose the warranty on my LEGO set by hanging it up?
You build the set the way it is meant to be built and click it onto the mount. If something does need moving for your model, it is described in the instructions and it is just as easy to put back.
Care and safety
How do I clean my LEGO set while it is on the wall?
A feather duster or a soft brush is enough for ordinary dust; for awkward spots a blower or compressed air from a distance works well. If you want to clean it properly, click the model off for a moment.
Could my set fall off the wall?
Not if it is fixed properly. What does increase the risk: a plug that does not suit the wall type, one screw instead of two, or plasterboard without a suitable plug. If you are unsure, do not hang the model above a bed, desk or sofa until you are.
Is this safe with children or pets in the house?
On the wall a set is usually safer than on a low shelf, precisely because nobody walks into it by accident. Hang it high enough that it cannot be pulled at.
Something on my mount has broken. What now?
Send us a message with a photo and your order number. We print ourselves, so a replacement part is not a world tour for us.
